Reverends Jackie and Tom Devereaux were granted their Articles of Incorporation from the state of California on Jan. 08, 2021, and approved for their non-profit religious organization, Heaven Within Inc. They were granted a 501 (c) 3 tax exempt status with the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board.
Jackie, along with her husband, Tom, completed an arduous five-year coursework in World Religions and Literatures, Religious Studies, and Divinity through the Institute of Mentalphysics located in Yucca Valley/Joshua Tree, California.
They both were ordained ministers on October 10, 2020 at the Center of the Open Rose. Their degrees are equivalent to a master's degree in Divinity.
The Devereaux's spiritual journey continues...
A sea turtle swimming in the Pacific Ocean. A lucky shot.

A typical sunrise in San Felipe.
Cloud formation at sunrise.
This sunrise photo is among the very first I shot in San Felipe in 2010. Sometimes the first is the best.

A zopolote or desert vulture perched on our palapa post. Tom loves these birds.
R.I.P. RAY RAY...WE MISS U.
My beloved Pug, Ray Ray, passed away on Nov. 4, 2013. He was nearly 14 years old and the best friend I've ever had. There's a hole in my life.
Ray Ray saved my life twice!
San Diego sunsets...what more can I say?
A stupa in Nepal.
Travels with Ray is a story about my road trips with my Pug dog, Ray. In the photo below you see Ray with his new buddy, Zorro, a stray we adopted in San Felipe, Mexico.
Ray is old. Zorro is young. Ray is fat. Zorro is lean. Ray is light. Zorro is dark. Ray is small. Zorro is large. They are opposites, yet complementary. Both are essential.
This back-only photo was taken in March 2009.
Lucky to be alive.

Travels with Ray and Adventures with Zorroare based on the true events with our dogs, Ray and Zorro. No two could be more opposite.

In addition to her graduate studies and spiritual work, she continues to write for the Desert Star Weekly newspaper, which she founded in 2008.
Jackie also has self-published one of her books entitled, Bridget, which is available on Amazon.com.
Bridget is a story about a teenage girl, coming-of-age who abruptly transfers from her school in Pennsylvania to a high school in Southern California.
Bridget is a not so typical teenage girl who bridges the gap between a tomboy and a prom queen. It is a story for readers ages 4 to 14. The story, Bridget, is fiction but many scenes are based on real events in the childhood of the author.

Every year since 2008, except a few, Tom and I attend and report on the Joshua Tree Music Festivals in mid-May and October. We also attend the Bhakti/Shakti Festivals held at the Institute of Mentalphysics. We just love these festivals.
Lucky to spot a flock of rare white pelicans swim by our Mexican casa one morning. I'm so glad we found these few photos saved in emails.
This photo was taken from my porch of a typical monsoon rain over Campo Uno lagoon in San Felipe, Mexico. Nearly all of my 4,000 photos of Mexico, the SoCal desert, my wedding, etc., were stolen in 2013 during a home robbery in San Felipe. These photos are a few survivors from emails sent to friends. I was devasted by the loss. I was creating a History of San Felipe when the robbers hit. It's the city's loss. I don't want to write about San Felipe because it will be colored with my despondency over that robbery. Employees from the local power company were involved. The cops knew it, and did nothing except pass around naked pictures of me in the squad room. One female prosecutor gave me those photos back. So, the cops know who robbed me. They knew where my computers and camera gear were, but did nothing. The city of San Felipe does not want me to write about them!
Ponga boats at rest along the Malacon in San Felipe.
Ponga fishermen outside our casa at Campo Uno.
Shrimp boats anchor in the lagoon outside our casa.
Shrimp boats anchor inside the safe harbor of Campo Uno lagoon.
All these photos were recovered from old emails! I lost thousands of others but am so grateful to have recovered these! Thank you God!

Trip to Cancun and Chichen Itza. Took a few photos.
September 2011
I made two amazing road trips through Baja California Norte where I met leaders of the Kumeeya Indian tribe. My husband, Tom, and I were invited to take part in a Temesal ceremony or sweat lodge on sacred Indian lands in Rumorosa, Mexico.
Jesse, the spiritual leader of the Kumeeya tribe performed a rare Passing of the Pipe ceremony. We were allowed to smoke from the holy 250 year old peace pipe before it was handed over to Arturo Fisher, a well known Yaqui Indian Shamam from Sonora.
Jesse and Arturo then shared duties during the overnight Ayahuasca Healing ceremony.
There's a movie here.
